Encountering the Enneagram
The enneagram is an insightful (maybe even uncomfortably so!) tool for personal, relational, and spiritual growth. Join us for an exploration of this ancient-wisdom-traditions-meets-psychology way of engaging personality, emotions that keep us stuck, and the behaviors that everybody except you know you do! Our time will be interactive and experience-based, integrative with our Christian faith, and geared toward ennea-body who is curious about learning more about themselves!
Before coming to the first class, it will help you to get more out of the time if you have taken a test or two online or have read some of the brief descriptions of the types to start narrowing down which number you may be resonating the most with.
About Dan Taylor:
I have worked for many years in Residence Life in Christian Higher Education. I have my M.Div. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, though my educational and work history are uncomfortably revealing of my Enneagram type. (You'll learn more about that if you join us for class!)--I started college as a marine biology major, then moved to pre-physical therapy, then linguistics, then finally a double major with music and philosophy. After working in the social services in the Juvenile Justice System, I went to seminary, and have spent my professional life alternating between being a stay-at-home dad and working with college students! I have been teaching and utilizing the enneagram with students for the past 8 years (after I got over my initial shock at how creepily accurate the crazy thing was!) and have seen it be transformative in many people's lives, my own included.
About Melissa Lima:
She was born in Los Angeles, but grew up in New Hampshire from Guatemalan immigrant parents. Melissa did her undergrad studies at LeTourneau University in Texas and her Master’s at Taylor University where she wrote her thesis on the impact of study abroad programs on Latinx students. She has visited several Latin American countries, from Mexico, Cuba, Costa Rica and many more. After working for four years as a Resident Director at Westmont College, she is currently exploring her journey as a storyteller and artist. Meanwhile, you can find her in the Funk Zone as a Food Tour Guide for Eat This, Shoot That! as she tells guests some of the history of Santa Barbara and all the great places to eat.
