Masks on a Mission

Masks on a Mission

Update as of 4.14.2020

As of today, we have sent out 700 masks to SB & LA health care professionals, first responders, and essential workers. We have over 30+ people sewing and have been asked by the city to continue our ministry by providing masks for all city employees. We are working on a potential grant with the SB Foundation with the hopes of securing funding for this work, and to even expand our outreach by purchasing meals for COVID health care units in Cottage. This will allow us to purchase goods from local small businesses in need and provide support in a tangible way to those on the front lines of COVID.

Friends, our healthcare workers and people on the front line don't have enough of the appropriate PPE to keep them and their families safe. As a Church, we have an opportunity to serve our brothers and sisters in the medical field in a time of crisis. We can be love in action as " we shelter in place."

This ministry seeks to provide masks for our health care professionals. Each mask will have a note of encouragement attached to it and will be freely given to whoever is in need of them in the medical field.

How can you help?

Are you willing to sew? If so, then please email Pastor Shannon Balram at shannon@fmcsb.org. She will then connect you with our sewing team at our church, and ensure you have the template needed to make the masks.

Would you be willing to donate needed supplies? For those who are sewing, they need more supplies. If you have 1/2 wide double fold or wider bias tape and/or fabric please consider donating this for the cause. We need more of these particular items to keep making masks. If you would like to donate money for these items, please follow donate to FMCSB. You can do this by sending a check to FMCSB marked "Masks on a Mission" or you can give online here, choose "other" for the fund, and put "Masks on a Mission" in the memo.

Are you able to write an encouraging note? Each mask will have a note from the community attached to it, as to encourage our healthcare professionals. If you would like to send a note, then please email Pastor Shannon directly at shannon@fmcsb.org

We welcome all to partner as they see fit! Please email questions to shannon@fmcsb.org

Respectfully,

Shannon Balram
