Walks with Pastor Colleen
Thursdays, 4:00pm
Starting June 1st

“In God’s hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.”
~
Psalm 95:4-5

This summer, I invite you to come and take a walk with me. There are many beautiful places around Santa Barbara for us to enjoy. So often when I get outside, it is for a goal or to get to a destination. However, we want to take time to pay attention to our surroundings while intentionally engaging with Jesus while we trek around our city.

It is going to be a simple time of walking and then pausing at the end as a group together to share and pray. Because of my schedule, our meetings will not be each week, but interspersed eight times throughout the summer. Each walk will be on a Thursday at 4:00pm. We will be meeting in various places around town and then going from there. Our first one will be Thursday, June 1st. For those interested, I will provide a schedule and we will have a group communication for where we will meet each time.

Please email me if you are interested: colleen@fmcsb.org

Throughout the week participants will be encouraged to keep a gratitude journal.

The God who Plays
Wednesdays @ 6:15pm
Starting June 21 and ending August 16
Location: Will vary :)
Leaders: Pastor Nikki Ramage (nikki@fmcsb.org) 949-241-7851 and Nathan Snyder (530-261-0734)

This summer we will be learning about, reflecting on, and participating in a theology of play.  What does it mean for our relationship with God, that our God is one who plays? What does it mean for our relationship with God that our God is not just one of seriousness, but one of joy and creativity? On odd weeks we will be gathering to discuss the book: The God Who Plays: A Playful Approach to Theology and Spirituality. And on even weeks we will be participating in different forms of play: pickleball, spike-ball, hammocking, card games, strategy games, improv games, etc. (really whatever the group has expertise in or is drawn towards) The main question we will be asking is what does a Christian life look like that is only focused on obedience, discipline, and sacrifice? Isn’t play a part of our discipleship and what it means to be created in God’s image? All ages and stages welcome!  Contact Pastor Nikki if you would like to join.
